Our purpose
The School of Formation (SoF), set up by the Diocese of Bath & Wells, helps people, churches and communities cope with, and make the most of the changes affecting the contemporary Church.
Our work
Our logo shows the four areas of work: ministry, mission, spirituality and theology. Follow the links below to find out more.
Forming lives
Learning is part of everyone’s life. We offer learning opportunities, courses and programmes for people to learn who God is, how God’s world can be, and how to grow into the likeness of Christ.
Forming churches
Many of our churches were built years ago, but the congregation is part of this generation. The formation of churches for each generation means seeking and finding relevance for today’s society. We provide churches with materials to support discovery in prayer and spirituality, theological study, mission work and training for ministry appropriate for contemporary Christianity.
Forming communities
We are not alone in the tasks of seeking a world where it is possible to be and do good. In the Church and as individuals we are part of communities, urban, rural, older, younger, advantaged, disadvantaged, poor, rich, forging ahead and struggling. We actively listen to whoever wants to talk about how life is, how it could be better and what we might learn.
