Help Shape a Faith Forum for North Somerset

Friday 20th January 2012

Following a successful Faith Audit in North Somerset last year Faithnetsouthwest has been commissioned by North Somerset Council to develop an independent faith forum for North Somerset.

It is hoped that, like other forums across Bath & Wells, the group will be effective in raising the public profile of faith communities and in engaging with local authorities and other agencies.

Faithnetsouthwest would like to hear from churches and church members with their thoughts on what the Forum should focus on.

To give you a flavour, some ideas already being considered are:

  • Help people from all the communities of North Somerset to get on well with each other
  • Work to reduce prejudice against people of all faiths
  • Make sure that the needs of all faith communities are understood and that there is more help to make sure their needs are met
  • Improve the quality of life for local people by supporting faith groups’ work in the community and encourage working together on agreed projects wherever possible.
  • Encourage community groups, the council and health services to have a better understanding of faith communities and their needs
  • Organising family events and social gatherings with food and music to bring people together.

You can contact Alistair Beattie, Chief Executive of Faithnetsouthwest with your thoughts.  Ph: 0117 304 2298 or Email: alistair@faithnetsouthwest.org.uk

Alistair can also provide details of a launch event for the new Forum to take place in late Jan/early Feb.
