Children's Festival 2012
Come and Fly the Flag!
A fun day for children with an Olympic theme
Saturday 21 January 2012 at Wells Cathedral
As the Cathedral clock struck eleven, an “Olympic” procession made its way through the Nave of Wells cathedral to the Opening Ceremony. Over 350 participants had gathered for the event. The flame was lit by the Cathedral Chancellor, the Reverend Canon Andrew Featherstone. Banners were blessed, songs were sung and participants sent on their way for fun and games.
The six activities included two Bouncy Castles and games to play, flags, medals to make, drama, music, badge making and face painting and an area for reflection and prayer.
At the end of the day the participants gathered back in the Nave for the closing ceremony. The banners processed out, the flame was extinguished, but everyone took a light stick home with them to shine as a light in the world!
